Common questions about combining photos.

How do I put two photos side by side?
Add Photo 1 and Photo 2 to the tool, then pick the Side by side layout. The two images are placed next to each other at a matching height, with an optional gap between them. Adjust the gap, swap the order if you like, then hit Download. No upload, no signup.
What layouts can I make?
Three: Side by side (two photos in a row), Stacked (one above the other), and Picture in picture (one photo overlaid as a small inset on the other, the dual-camera reaction look). Switch between them instantly; the preview updates live.
Is the split screen photo maker really free?
Yes. No accounts, no daily caps, no per-file size limit, no watermark. Everything runs in your browser. We never see your photos.
Do my photos upload anywhere?
No. Both images are combined and re-encoded entirely on your device using canvas. Nothing uploads, nothing is logged. Close the tab and the files are gone.
Can I add a gap or border between the photos?
Yes. For the side-by-side and stacked layouts there is a gap slider, plus a color picker so the gap can be white, black, or any color you choose. Set it to zero for a seamless join.
Can I make a picture-in-picture (reaction) image?
Yes. Choose the Picture in picture layout. Photo 1 becomes the full background and Photo 2 becomes a small inset with a white frame. You can size the inset and place it in any corner. It is the still-photo version of a dual-camera reaction video.
Can I combine iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. iPhone HEIC images are decoded in the browser first, then combined like any other image. Output is JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
Which output formats can I save to?
JPEG (smallest, most compatible), PNG (lossless, keeps a transparent gap if you want one), or WebP (modern compact). JPEG and WebP are encoded at 92% quality.
How do I record both cameras at the same time, like the layouts here?
This tool combines two still photos after the fact. To record your front and back cameras at the same time in a single video, with these same side-by-side and picture-in-picture layouts live, use the Dual Camera app for iPhone. It captures both feeds at once for reaction videos, vlogs, and interviews.

Want this layout as a video, both cameras at once?

This tool combines two still photos after the shot. The Dual Camera app records your front and back cameras at the same time into one video, with the same side-by-side and picture-in-picture layouts, for reaction videos, vlogs, and interviews.
