What stays on your device

Your photos.The photo tools on this site run in your browser: the stamp tool, the EXIF viewer and editor, the converters, PDF tools, compressors and the rest. Those tools never upload, transmit, or store your photos. Close the tab and the file is gone. The two exceptions are described under "AI background tools" below.

Your stamp settings.Date format, palette, watermark, and other tool preferences live in your browser's local storage when you re-visit. They are not sent to us.

AI background tools (server processing)

Which tools.The AI white background tool, and the background remover when it is set to Fast mode. The background remover's Private mode stays in your browser like the other tools.

What is sent. Your browser first resizes the photo to at most 1024 pixels on its long side and re-encodes it as a JPEG, which drops its EXIF and GPS metadata. Only that copy is sent, through our server, to a third-party AI processing service that runs the model and returns the result.

How long it is kept. We do not store the photo or the result, and we do not use them for training. The processing service automatically deletes the photo and the result within one hour. Our server logs record only error codes, never image data or file names.

Abuse protection. To stop automated misuse, the endpoint briefly keeps a count of requests per IP address in memory. It is not written to disk and is not linked to the photo. Use Private mode or another tool if you do not want a photo to leave your device.

What leaves the browser

Reverse geocoding.When you press "Use my location," the GPS coordinate from your device is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to convert it into a street address. The coordinate is sent over HTTPS; we do not store the request. OpenStreetMap's policy applies to that lookup.

Map tiles. The EXIF viewer embeds an OpenStreetMap tile when a photo carries GPS. The map iframe is loaded from openstreetmap.org with a no-referrer-when-downgrade policy.

Outbound links.The "Get the app" button opens Apple's App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies there.

Analytics

We may use one or more of the following to understand which pages are useful and which are not:

• Plausible Analytics: privacy-respecting, cookieless, no personal data collected. Aggregates page views and referrer.
• Google Analytics 4: used only when explicitly enabled. Sets first-party cookies and may collect IP address and user-agent. We never share GA data.

You can block analytics with any browser extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger). The site works the same with or without analytics loaded.

Processed-photos counter. The number in the top bar is a single global tally of how many photos have been processed across the whole site. Each tool use or download adds an anonymous +1 to that shared total. It records only a count. It never includes your photo, its name, its contents, EXIF, or GPS.

Cookies

The site uses no cookies for its core function. Optional cookies are set only when Google Analytics 4 is enabled (a first-party_ga cookie used to distinguish unique sessions), or by advertising (see below).

Advertising

We may show ads from Google AdSense on our articles and guides to help keep the tools free. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party cookie use for personalized ads at aboutads.info/choices. In the EU/UK we show a consent prompt and only set ad cookies with your agreement.

Ads never change how the tools handle your photos: they are never sent to Google or to any advertiser. The only photos that leave the browser are the resized copies described under "AI background tools".

iOS app

The Timestamp Camera iOS app handles GPS, time, and image data entirely on your device. The app does not upload your photos or collect personal data. See the App Store privacy summary on the iOS app page for the formal disclosure.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be flagged in a release note on Photo guides.
