Common questions about image format conversion.

How do I convert an image format online?
Drop the image (or a folder of images) onto the converter. Pick your output format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF) and quality, then hit Convert. Single files download directly; batches bundle into a single ZIP. The entire conversion runs in your browser; no photo ever leaves your device.
Which input formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, BMP, and ICO. HEIC files are decoded in the browser (no install needed). Animated GIFs convert their first frame; for full animated GIFs use a dedicated animated-image converter.
Which output format should I pick?
JPEG for universal compatibility (every email client, every CMS, every print kiosk). PNG for lossless and transparency. WebP for ~25 to 35% smaller files than JPEG at the same quality, supported by every modern browser. AVIF for the smallest files (~50% smaller than JPEG), excellent 2026 browser support, slightly weaker compatibility in old email and chat apps.
WebP to JPG and JPG to WebP both work?
Yes, in both directions, and between any pair from JPG / PNG / WebP / AVIF. The browser decodes the input and re-encodes as the chosen output, regardless of which format started the chain.
Can I batch-convert a folder?
Yes. Drop a whole folder (or multi-select files). Each one converts in turn with the same settings, and the results bundle into a single ZIP for one-click download. No per-file or per-batch caps.
Is the converter really free? Any limits?
Yes. No accounts, no daily caps, no per-file size limit, no watermark. Everything runs in your browser. We never see your files.
Will EXIF, GPS, and metadata survive?
No. Canvas-based re-encoding strips the EXIF block. If you need to preserve EXIF when converting JPEG specifically, use our image resizer with the 'Keep EXIF' toggle on. If you want EXIF gone deliberately for privacy, this converter is the cleanest way to ensure a clean output file.
What about TIFF, PSD, or RAW (CR2, NEF, ARW)?
TIFF, PSD, and RAW formats require specialized decoders that are not part of any browser. We do not include them to keep the converter fast and lightweight. For RAW files, use the manufacturer's software (Canon DPP, Adobe Lightroom, Capture One) to export a JPEG first, then drop that here for further format conversion.
How is this different from the image compressor?
The compressor focuses on a single file with a side-by-side preview and exact bytes-saved counter, optimized for the 'shrink this for email' use case. The converter is batch-first and designed for crossing format boundaries (WebP → JPG, GIF → PNG, HEIC → JPEG, etc.) on many files at once.

Skip the conversion queue. Capture in JPEG straight away.

The iOS app captures every shot with date, GPS, and address stamped onto the visible image and exports JPEG out of the box. No HEIC step. No format-juggle at the end of the day.
