How do I change the aspect ratio of an image without stretching it?
Drop the image, pick a target ratio (16:9, 1:1, 9:16, 4:5, or custom), and choose a method. Pad adds bars so the whole photo stays visible and undistorted: blurred bars made from the photo itself, or a solid color. Crop trims the photo to the ratio instead. Either way, nothing is squashed or stretched.
How do I convert a photo to 16:9?
Pick the 16:9 preset. A vertical photo gets side bars (blur or a color you choose); a wide photo gets cropped or padded depending on the method you pick. 16:9 is the standard for YouTube thumbnails, presentations, and video frames.
How do I make an image square (1:1)?
Pick the 1:1 preset. Square is the Instagram grid and profile picture standard. Blur padding looks natural for photos; solid white or black looks cleaner for product shots and logos. Crop mode gives a centered square cut instead.
What is the difference between pad and crop?
Pad keeps every pixel of your photo and fills the leftover space with bars: nothing is lost, the canvas grows. Crop keeps the ratio by trimming: the image fills the frame completely, but the edges outside the target ratio are cut away. Use pad when content matters edge to edge; use crop when a full-bleed look matters more.
What are blurred bars?
Instead of flat black or white bars, the tool scales a blurred copy of your own photo to fill the background. It is the same effect video apps use for vertical clips in a horizontal frame, and it looks far more polished than solid bars on most photos.
Can I use a custom aspect ratio?
Yes. Pick Custom and type any width : height pair from 1:1 up to 100:100, for example 2.35:1-style cinema ratios (enter 47:20) or a 3:1 banner. The preview updates live.
