Common questions about converting coordinates.

How do I convert decimal coordinates to DMS?
Paste a decimal pair like 40.741895, -73.989308 into the box above. The tool instantly shows the same point in DMS (degrees, minutes, seconds) and DDM (degrees and decimal minutes), each with a copy button. The conversion is pure math and runs in your browser.
What is the difference between DD, DMS, and DDM?
They are three ways to write the same location. DD (Decimal Degrees) is 40.741895, the format apps and code use. DMS is 40°44'30.8"N, the classic format on maps and in aviation. DDM (Degrees Decimal Minutes) is 40°44.5124', common in marine navigation and many GPS units.
Can it read DMS as input too?
Yes. Paste a DMS string with N/S/E/W markers, for example 40°44'30.8"N 73°59'21.5"W, and it converts back to decimal and DDM. The parser accepts most common spacings and symbols.
Are my coordinates uploaded anywhere?
No. This converter is pure arithmetic; it never contacts a server. Everything happens in your browser, and nothing you type is sent or stored. The OpenStreetMap link only opens when you click it.
How precise is the conversion?
Decimal output is shown to six places (about 0.1 m), and DMS seconds to two decimals. That is more than enough for mapping, surveying notes, and copying into another tool without losing accuracy.

Need the coordinates on the photo itself?

Converting formats is handy, but if you want the GPS baked into your shots, the iOS app stamps the coordinates, atomic time, and address onto the image at the shutter, in whatever format you prefer.
