Common questions about address lookups.

How do I find the GPS coordinates of an address?
Type the address or place name into the box above and press Get coordinates. The tool looks it up with OpenStreetMap and returns the latitude and longitude in both decimal and DMS, with a pin on the map. Add a city or country if a short address is ambiguous.
Does it need an API key or account?
No. It uses the free OpenStreetMap Nominatim service, so there is no key, no sign-up, and no cost. Only the address you type is sent to look it up; nothing else is collected.
What kinds of places can I look up?
Street addresses, landmarks, business names, cities, postal codes, and natural features all work. For a precise rooftop coordinate, give a full street address; for a general point, a place name is enough.
Why are there sometimes several possible matches?
Place names repeat across the world (there are many Springfields). The tool returns the best match; if it is not the one you meant, add a state, region, or country to narrow it down.
Can I copy the coordinates?
Yes. Both the decimal and DMS forms have a copy button, ready to paste into a map, a spreadsheet, a geotagging tool, or code.

Recording where you actually are?
